Founded in 1967, Antwerp International School (AIS) is a non-profit association (vzw), and is a world leader in providing international families with a high quality learning experience in the English language. The school is located just eight kilometers from the thriving cultural hub of Antwerp.
Thirty-five nationalities are represented in our multicultural community, which includes 400 students ranging in age from 2.5 - 18, and 90 staff members. AIS provides a holistic and personalized approach to teaching. We pride ourselves on our small class size, which allows students to build friendly, yet respectful, relationships with their teachers and classmates.
AIS understands that each student is unique, and the school provides students with individualized attention from faculty members who are experts in their field. With a student teacher ratio of 7.1:1, we are committed to offering an outstanding learning experience tailored to the needs of our students.
The school offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, and is a candidate school for the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Program (MYP). Our test scores are well above the world average. Our focus is on providing an engaging and inclusive environment that ultimately inspires our students to achieve their ambitions. Our students are university-ready when they graduate from AIS.
The school encourages students to participate in sports at all levels. AIS is a member of the Northwest European Council of International Schools (NECIS) and plays competitively in ten sports. At the same time, emphasis is placed on creativity and innovation and students are encouraged to express themselves through the visual and performing arts.
