A Symphony of Sound in the STEMzone

November 09, 2021

Grade 10 Physics students created a symphony of sound in the STEMzone. The students worked together on a “Sound and Noise” lab. They broke up into groups and visited several different stations and then gathered data. To see a video of the experiments taking place and hear what it sounded like in the STEMzone watch the video below.

The students measured decibels and sound waves, tested hearing range, visualised sound waves on an oscilloscope and measured the length of time a tuning fork can be heard in different situations (normally, held firmly against a tabletop and underwater).
